Each week, we look at the Oregon Reopening Metrics Dashboard to determine if/when we can return to on-site instruction in a Hybrid model. State data for Oregon and Lane County has been updated based on the last 14-day period (12/27-1/9). The data for Lane County is attached below this message. Based on this data; The absolute case count is 284 cases; The positivity rate is 3.72%. This is an increase in cases over the previous two week period. Lane county remains in the extreme risk (red) zone.
What does this mean?
Governor Brown has made the metrics advisory, as of January 1, 2021. While restrictions for in-person learning have been relaxed in some ways, the health and safety of our students and staff is of the utmost importance. Therefore, Oakridge School District currently plans to continue to utilize local public health data and metrics to determine when more students will safely begin to return to in-person learning.
We will continue to monitor our metrics and consult with Lane County Public Health as we look to expand the number of kids we have in Limited In Person Instruction as we have done up to this point.
We are awaiting the updated Ready Schools, Safe Learners guidance from ODE, which is expected around January 19. Once we have updated guidance on the processes and procedures we must follow, we can move forward with adjusting our Ready Schools, Safe Learners plans.
