COVID is on the rise in our community and the Oakridge School District is working diligently to contain the spread in our schools and after school activities.  This includes sanitizing, properly masking, physical distancing, and many other routines and procedures.  We need our community's help to keep our kids in school and involved in extracurricular activities.

The following are the most current symptoms of the COVID variant, Omicron.  This is not to say that the Delta symptoms that include a fever, loss of taste and smell, intestinal upset may not also be in play.

Early evidence suggests that for most people, at least for those who are up to date on their Covid vaccines, Omicron appears to result in mild illness that can resemble the common cold. The most prominent symptoms from Omicron include:

  • Cough

  • Fatigue

  • Runny nose

Please keep your children home if they are feeling unwell, even with mild symptoms, and get tested if desired.

Athletics:

In order to keep our athletic activities open to our community, we need your support.  If we are not unable to abide by the following guidelines, Oregon Superintendents are being advised to suspend athletics until the current surge of COVID cases subsides.  Please help our athletes by abiding the following;

  • Properly wear your mask; above the nose and below the chin

  • Replace your mask between sips and bites

  • Keep at least 3 ft distance from those not in your household

  • If you are not feeling well please stay home and catch the next game

Thank you for your support with this.  It is not what any of us want to do and we are all looking forward to a better day.  For now, we can work together so our kids do not miss out on the things that make today the best day possible for each of them.
